Telephone Service

Saskatchewan Telecommunications (SaskTel) provides teleophone service to the entire area. Fax services are also available locally. The basic monthly charge for service in residential areas is $22.00 per month. For urban business customers, the rate is $28.50 per month and for rural business customers the rate is $28.50 per month plus a varying line charge for every quarter mile from the service point you are.

Internet

Basic high speed internet is available in both Moosomin and Wapella from Sasktel. Dial-up internet is also available for community members outside of the high speed region. The area's wireless internet dealer is Glasser's TV Service Ltd. located in Moosomin.

Newspapers

Two newspapers are available in the area: the Leader-Post and the World-Spectator.

The Leader-Post is published in Regina and is trucked to Moosomin Daily, Monday through Saturday. The paper is delivered door-to-door by locally-hired paper carriers and is also available at several retail outlets.

The World-Spectator is a weekly paper available either by pick-up at the World-Spectator office or by mail each Monday. It is also available at retail outlets. The World-Spectator has a staff of eight full-time and two part-time workers, along with a multitude of community correspondents. The paper has a circulation of approximately 3,400 per week and is available at all of the communities in the Gateway REDA region.

Television Stations

Television signals are available in the area by both antenna reception and by cable reception. Regional Cable Systems out of Edmonton supplies signals to Moosomin, and W-1 Cable Company serves Wapella. Both centres receive the American newtorks ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS. Other networks received are CBC Newsworld, CBC, CTV, Global, TSN, and Superchannel. Stations available locally by antenna reception are Global Winnipeg, CKX Brandon, and CICC Yorkton.
