AttractionsThe Gateway REDA region has many unique site-seeing opportunities and activities available to tourists approaching the area. The area has three museums, each portraying the individual histories of the communities they belong to, as well as parks and recreational facilities for seasonal use. MuseumsMoosomin, Wapella, and Welwyn all have their own local museums. Moosomin Regional MuseumHours of Operation: Tuesday through Sunday The museum has collected and cataloged items and are out for display and is still developing the museum grounds. The grounds will include native plants, memorial trees, and other historic yard displays, as well as the committee will be setting up a blacksmith shop in one of the buildings. A significant piece of Moosomin history is the Fudge snow plane, which was built in 1940. It has been restored and is now in working condition. Other displays in the museum include an early SaskTel switchboard, early items from the clubs of Moosomin, items of the Masons, items from the Shortly Avann's Good Company Band, First Nations artifacts, an early threshing machine, a model of Hillburn School, an old optometrist chair, antiques, old clothing and army uniforms, and McGuirl furniture.
Wapella MuseumWapella's museum is located in the building of the former Anglican Church. The museum deals with historical and pioneer items from the Wapella area.
Welwyn MuseumHours of Operation: Sundays Wapella museum, recently created in the Village of Welwyn, is housed in the former St. Paul's Anglican Church.
TheatreMoosomin Community Theatre, run by the Moosomin & District Arts Council, is used for live performances all year round and for movies during the winter. The Moosomin & District Arts Council showcases performers and entertainers from outside the Gateway region in addition to local talent. It also sponsors local theatre performances such as the Mooseberry Acting Company, which stages spring and fall productions, and yearly performances from Laurel's School of Dance.
ShoppingEach town in the Gateway Area has its own variety of stores. Anything needed for daily life can be found in these communities. In addition to the region's local selections, major shopping malls are located nearby in Brandon (89 mi, 143 km), Regina (143 mi, 230 km), and Yorkton (93 mi, 150 km).
Regional ParksThree primary regional parks exist in the Gateway REDA area. Firstly, Moosomin & District Regional Park has cabins and campsites near the lakeshore for accommodation, as well as activities including fishing, boating, pitch-and-putt golfing, and hiking. Secondly, Welwyn Regional Park features twenty campsites and popular fishing, boating and swimming activiies. Lastly, Fieldstone Campground, shortly north of Moosomin, offers beautiful, well-treed sites with or without services. In addition, Moosomin has an enjoyable Cenotaph Park on Broadway Ave. and Wapella has a cenotaph and park within the town. For more information on the region's parks and campgrounds, see this page.
RecreationEach of the communities in the Gateway REDA area have their own unique recreation facilities available for use. There are curling rinks in Moosomin, Wapella and Welwyn, and resources for swimming, baseball, golf, and other activiities exist too.
