The old Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Elevator in Moosomin, now privately owned.

The Gateway REDA region has many unique site-seeing opportunities and activities available to tourists approaching the area. Moosomin and Wapella have many tourist attractions at their disposal. The area has three museums, each portraying the individual histories of the communities they belong to, as well as parks, hiking, hunting, and recreational facilities for seasonal use. Moosomin Rodeo

The MRCA and CCA approved Moosomin Rodeo is held rain or shine. Bull-riding events especially thrill the crowds. Dance to country music under the tent. The community holds a parade, children's activities, and a pancake breakfast during this July weekend event. The rodeo attracts competitors in all the major events, including saddle bronco, bull-riding, tie-down roping, team roping, and ladies' barrels, as well as a number of junior events.

The Wapella Rodeo is held on Thanksgiving long weekend every year. The rodeo attracts competitors in all the major events, including saddle bronco, bull-riding, tie-down roping, team roping, and ladies' barrels, as well as a number of junior events. The rodeo weekend also consists of a cabaret both Friday and Saturday night.

Golf Courses

Two golf courses exist within the Gateway REDA region: Moosomin Golf Club and Wapella Golf Club. Both golf clubs have 9-hole courses and are located in scenic portions of the region.

Moosomin Golf Club

Nestled in the Pipestone Valley 10km south of Moosomin, the Moosomin Golf Course provides a scenic, challenging test for golfers of every expertise level. The course has beautiful, lush watered fairways and finely-manicured grass greens. The rolloing fairways provide almost every type of shot in the game. The new clubhouse is the pride of its members and provides eating facilities, a licensed lounge, and the usual pro shop golf needs. Golf cart rentals, pull cart rentals, and club rentals are also available. The course may be booked for tournaments by contacting the clubhouse.

Prices are:

Nine Holes: $10.00
Eighteen Holes: $18.00 - $21.00 (Junior Rates available)

Wapella Golf Club

Wapella Golf club is a relatively new course located approximately 1.5km south of Wapella. The course has nine holes with sand greens. Par is 35.Green fees are $3.00 for nine holes or $5.00 for the whole day.

Membership fees are:

Family: $85.00
Single: $55.00
Student $35.00

Shopping

Each town in the Gateway Area has its own variety of stores. Anything needed for daily life can be found in these communities. In addition to the region's local selections, major shopping malls are located nearby in Brandon (89 mi, 143 km), Regina (143 mi, 230 km), and Yorkton (93 mi, 150 km).

Motels & Campgrounds

Moosomin is home to four hotels and motels: Prairie Pride Motel, Moosomin Motel, Twi-Lite Motel, and Moosomin Motor Hotel, Ltd. Country Squire Inn is also present along the Trans-Canada highway. Saskatchewan Tourism website also has information on most of Moosomin's accomodations. Wapella also has its own three-story hotel, Dodge City Bar & Hotel.

There are also two campgrounds near Moosomin: Moosomin & District Regional Park and Fieldstone Campground & RV Resort. Welwyn also has a local park, Welwyn Regional Park, with camping rates.
