R.M. of Moosomin No. 121History of the R.M. of MoosominThe municipality was incorporated January 13, 1913, and opened an office in the Town of Moosomin. The current office is a historic building that was originally a Bank of Commerce in Moosomin. The municipality has a Reeve and six councillors. Over the course of time there have been 10 Reeves, 64 councillors, and 10 Administrators that have served the municipality.

Economic InformationThe R.M. of Moosomin's population, as of the 2001 census, was 528, and its 2004 taxable assessment was $51.8 million. Agricultural operations in the municipality include grain, specialty crops, pasture, livestock, elk farms, a grain terminal and several privately owned seed cleaning plants. Industrial operations include a pipeline compressor station, gas storage caverns, transmission lines for oil and/or gas and some privately owned businesses. Within the boundaries of the municipality are the Village of Welwyn and the Town of Fleming. Moosomin Cooperative Loans provides assistance to small businesses in the area through the Gateway REDA.
AttractionsMoosomin and District Regional Park, upstream from Moosomin dam, provides fishing, boating and water sports as well as plenty of camping spots, a park store and privately owned cabins. Moosomin Lake also provides water for a small irrigation operation. Fieldstone Campground, just north of Highway No. 1, has a man-made lake for swimming, camping spots, and sports fields. The old school districts have commemorative plaques marking their original sites for historic recognition. Moosomin Golf course is approximately 6 miles south with a nine holes winding through the scenic Pipestone Valley.
